copyright 2010 - Kings Langley Players - all rights reserved Our 86th Season! Here we are at the start of our 86th season. The KLP has been going strong through the 30s Depression, World War II, and now it's 21st century Recession. Life's a struggle for everyone as we keep a close account of every penny. When times are grim an evening of live theatre can be a wonderful tonic - but let's be realistic, it's harder than ever to shell out on tickets. So it's with a heavy heart that the KLP have put prices up - by just £1.00 though. BUT that's only on the door; if you book ahead they're still only £9.00 and £7.00 for concessions! (For the third year running.) Pretty good value we hope you'll agree. If you're a regular KLP-goer you know that you can count on us for greatly diverse shows with high production values. (The Watford Observer regularly gives us 4 star reviews). So what do we have for you this season? Side-splitting farce, rip-roaring family panto, an intriguing study of male friendship and a salty story of female bonding! Working backwards, our last production, next May, is Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling. This is the original stage version of the immensely popular 80s film. All the action takes place in the home-town beauty salon Truvy has set up in her own place in the heart of America's Deep South, where five of her clients regularly hang out - shooting the breeze and sharing their lives, loves and laughs. In March we're off to France to meet 3 men who've been friends for a very long time but who've now fallen out over a large abstract painting one of them has just purchased. This is Art, the surprise world-wide comedy smash hit by Yasmina Reza. In January we serve up a delicious traditional pantomime for all the family. After last season's highly successful production of Aladdin we went back to our friend Chris Jordan, who wrote the script, and he's kindly let us loose on another of his pantos: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. We had such a ball on his last show that we've the same creative team, Director Stephen Wells and Musical Director Clive Swan, steering us through this one to ensure that it's a feast for the ears and eyes, with spectacular sets and costumes (wait till you see the 7 dwarfs!), a splendidly tuneful Dame, great comedy routines and a touch of magic.
To kick things off we have the incomparable 'Allo 'Allo! by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft (who created the original TV sitcom). This hugely successful stage adaptation sticks closely to the plot of their classic TV series set in occupied France during the Second World War, which tells of café owner René's ill-fated attempts to deal with the Germans, French Resistance fighters, English airmen, two amorous waitresses - and his formidable wife! Wherever this show plays it's to gales of laughter and enthusiastic audiences, so we're putting on a Saturday matinee as well as our Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening shows. And we'd still recommend you booking early to make sure of the best seats - and avoid that extra £1.00 on the door!
We do hope that you'll enjoy escapist evenings of entertainment with the KLP. In the meantime take a look at our photo gallery on
